Meditation Instruction and Stress Management

Under stress, the nervous system activates the “fight or flight” response. The activity of the sympathetic nervous system increases, resulting in increased heartbeat, increased respiratory rate, elevation of the blood pressure, and an increase in oxygen consumption. A prolonged stress response can also result in disease – including, but not limited to: alcohol and drug dependencies, allergies, chronic pain, depression, high blood pressure, muscle stiffness, sleep disturbances, and ulcers.

If you practice Meditation for at least 20 minutes every day, you will discover life-changing benefits on many levels, including:

  • A significant reduction in the effects of stress in your life;
  • A greater sense of calm and peacefulness;
  • More clarity of thought;
  • Greater self-confidence and improved self-esteem;
  • A sense of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing; and,
  • Better sleep.

You will not be tied to a particular style of Meditation. Rather, the Meditation process is tailored to suit your preferred learning style, you will learn how to Meditate independently, and how to incorporate Meditation into the whole of your life.  In short you are empowered, rather than directed to become dependent on one particular way or philosophy.

The Body Wisdom classes are designed to introduce you to effective relaxation techniques in the first instance (so you can implement the skills you learn immediately and recognise tangible improvements for yourself as quickly as possible) and provide you with a sound understanding of the function and benefits of Meditation. Each course is designed to progress through a range of different Meditation styles so that you can discover and focus on the style they find suits you best on an individual level.

CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS

“Beginning Meditation” (six 1- 1.5 hour classes) – $120.

The Beginning Meditation program is suitable for complete beginners, people wishing to get back into Meditation, or people with some knowledge of and experience with Meditation.  These classes will teach you:

  • Breathing techniques
  • Meditation for training the brain to perform instant muscle relaxation
  • Guided visualisation Meditation
  • Affirmations in Meditation
  • Zen Meditation
  • Mindfulness Meditation, and
  • Tools for stress management.

Private Meditation Instruction (six 1-1.5 hour sessions) – $120 per session.

Meditation for Teens (six 1 hour sessions) – $120.

Corporate Stress Management Training (six 1 hour sessions) – $180 per session.

The components of the Corporate Stress Management course are:

  • Stress Management
  • Relaxation skills
  • The science of positive psychology
  • Building strong and effective teams
  • Goal setting and achieving, and
  • Positive communication and time management.

All classes are available as a weekly class, a one or two-day workshop, or residential retreats. All classes are non-secular.
